Start Menu Restrictions
Select the desired desktop restrictions by checking the appropriate boxes. Note that you may need to log off or reboot clients to activate changes.
- Disable Start Menu: The Start Menu becomes unnaccessible: the Start Menu button is hidden, and the Start Menu keys are disabled. However, the Start Menu contents are not deleted, or modified. (On Windows Vista you need to hide the taskbar in order to disable the Start Menu)

- Protect Start Menu Alteration: Removes the ability to change the Start Menu. Users cannot move, delete, or change the Start Menu shortcuts.
Start Menu Appearance
- Recent Documents: Removes the Start Menu Recent Documents folder.
- Search / Find: Removes the Find command from the Start Menu.
- Run...: Removes the Start Menu Run... entry.
- Favorites: Removes the Start Menu Favorites folder.
- Help: Removes the Help command from the Start Menu.
- Username: Removes the user name from the top of the Start Menu.
- Pinned Programs List: Removes the pinned programs list from the Start menu.
- Frequent Programs List: Removes the frequent programs list from the Start menu.
- All Programs Button: Removes the all programs menu from the Start menu.
- Log Off Button: Removes the "Log Off" button from the Start Menu.
