Deployment

Installing Desktop Orbiter on multiple systems is a simple task. Check some deployment tips below.

Deploying (Advanced Users)

Once you've installed the first satellite, multiple systems can be deployed by copying the following files from the installation directory:

Copy them to your systems. The default installation directory is Windows\System32\sat. Once the copy is done, you have to install the service. Execute the following from a command prompt:

Note, though, that manually installed satellites will require manual uninstallation.

Installation Commands

The setup program (SATELLITESETUP.EXE) accepts optional command line parameters. These can be useful to system administrators, and to other programs calling the setup program:

Data Path

Desktop Orbiter stores application data in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%.

Firewall Configuration

In order to let satellites send and receive data to the Control Center you need to open mainly one port: 51051. In addition, three other ports are needed for secondary protocols (Broadcast Ping, Beacon, Remote Desktop): 51052, 51053, 51054.
