Using Profiles
Profiles allow you to store multiple configurations and send them to satellites easily. Deployment is an easy task once you've your set of profiles.
New Profile
- Click the File | New Profile menu or press F12.
- Enter a profile name.
- Click on the sections to the left to add: desktop security restrictions, filters, or tasks to the profile.
- To view profile summary press Ctrl-V or press ESC.
- Save the profile pressing Ctrl-S.
Sending Profiles
Select a satellite or list of satellites and press F12 to create a new profile or open a profile.
- To send a profile from the profile window press the Send button.
- From the main window, use the right-click menu, then select Profiles... and then click the profile name.
Editing Profiles
- Click the File | Open Profile menu, and then click on the profile name, or use the left-side panel to open a profile.
- From the profile summary, select a setting and right-click to show the menu.
- Click on Remove to delete the setting.
- Click on Edit to make changes to the setting.
- Save the profile pressing Ctrl-S.
Deleting Profiles
- Right-click in a profile on the left-side panel to open the Delete Profile menu.
Default Profiles
Desktop Orbiter includes some profiles by default. Feel free to use them or modify them to suit your needs.
The Basic Security filter is included in all default profiles, except Clear.
- Clear: Empty profile that removes restrictions, filters and tasks from selected satellites. Useful to undo changes easily.
- Kiosk: Users will only be able to open desktop icons, everything else will be restricted.
- Locked Desktop: Users will be able to use the computer normally, but access to desktop settings will be restricted.
- No Distractions: Access to web sites and applications will be restricted.
- Restricted Settings: Users will not be able to modify any settings.
- Safe Environment: Users will not be able to mess around. Web sites and applications will be restricted.
